Experience and vision

My name is Liz Lugt and I am the founder of Your Money Roadmap and author of the Roadmap to Financial Freedom e-book and online course. I am also a qualified Chartered Accountant with over 18 years of experience. I have worked in South Africa, the US and now here in the UK for companies like Deloitte, Disney and Virgin.

I have been helping people with their personal finances for over 15 years now. In the beginning, it was informally. My friends would come to me and ask me to help them draw up a budget. That experience soon made me realise that it is not enough to simply show people how to budget, but what would be far more beneficial would be to teach them timeless money management principles to help them take control of their money and change their financial future.

So in 2008 I wrote my flagship course, Road Map to Financial Freedom, and I started running it from my dining room. It grew from there. I began giving talks and helping individuals on a one-to-one basis. It has now evolved further into this website so I can help even more people regardless of where they live.

Too many people allow money to hold them back in life. They don’t have any financial goals, they don’t plan for their future and worst of all, they don’t follow their dreams. Don’t let this be you. No matter where you are in your personal financial management, I’ll help you get to the next level.

I do not sell financial products but rather give you the tools you need to take control of your money and achieve the financial future you thought was impossible. Whether it is buying a house, retiring early or pursuing your dream career, I am passionate about helping you live a life of purpose.

Social responsibilty

I believe in making a difference. I work with others on a volunteer basis to help bring about social justice in Southern Africa, where I grew up and witnessed extreme poverty. I am a member of the the UK board of a South African based charity, Thembalitsha Foundation (link to www.hope.org.za) , which exists to restore hope to the desperate and needy, through the provision of healthcare, education and training.

Family

My husband, Alex, and I have been married for over 18 years now. We have three children, twin girls who are 10 and a son who is 7. We live in London but keep firm ties with South Africa.
